My name is Rick Blackmon.  I call myself The Elderly Geek.  Why?  I am 74 years old and I have worked on or with computers since July 15, 1957.  I worked for IBM or its spinoffs from July 15, 1957 until March 31, 1996.  We moved 14 times during my career.  Having bought an antique grandfather clock during our third year of marriage, it moved with us and still keeps good time, ticking and chiming away in our foyer.

Following my IBM career, I sold and installed computers for Computer City until they closed the Houston North Store.  I then worked for Gateway, selling and installing computers until they closed their store.  Wonder if I am bad luck or something.

My wife Joyce and I have been married for 42 years.  She had 2 daughters, I had 2 boys, and we had one son, a true Yours, Mine and Ours situation.

I can be contacted at mailto:theelderlygeek@elderlygeek.com
